 No one can accuse me of over-communication. I just wanted to take some time to reflect on the year that's rapidly drawing to a close. We've acquired some more sheep: four ewes and three wether tup lambs (Barry, Garry and Norman who have spent the last few months charging around my flock of elderly ladies and causing mayhem) ... I am looking forward to some stunning fleeces next summer! I turned 60 - and there's no denying that that's a proper milestone. I spent my birthday week near the mouth of Loch Fleet and enjoyed some great walks in forests and on cold empty beaches. I promised myself a year of being creative and have (so far) attended three lino-print workshops (see last post), two basket-weaving workshops and a stained glass workshop where I made the CRM-inspired rose above. I got back into dyeing yarn with a passion and dyed up the last of my grey Harestanes base just in time for the Glasgow School of Yarn (my final event) in October. I also got into the Glasgow theme for their gala evening by dyeing up these bundles of mini-skeins which sold out quickly.  Already now we are sending this year's fleeces off to the Mill, and planning what to get spun for next year! This is even more exciting (and nerve-wracking) as we've taken the decision to expand into producing some non-Shetland yarns. This will come from fleeces which we've carefully selected from two local Lammermuir farms. One is only a mile away and the other 2 miles away.
We've begun to apply for festivals in 2025 but have already been rejected by a couple of large festivals which are local to us. This has been a real blow at a challenging time but - if you check on our web page Meet Us then you'll be up to date with where we're going to be!
